A36 is an American standard carbon structural plate, which is subject to ASTM A36/A36M. This standard is applicable to riveting, bolting and welding structures for bridges and buildings, as well as general purpose structural steel quality carbon steel sections, plates and bars.

X42 has the minimum yield strength of 42 kilopound/square inch and X52 has the 52 ksi.

These alloys also offer higher creep, stress-to-rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. In addition to excellent corrosion resistance and strength properties, the Alloys 316 and 316L Cr-Ni-Mo alloys also provide excellent fabricability and formability which are typical of the austenitic stainless steels.
